Monterey Pong Rules
  1. Games start on time whether or not a team is present.
  2. Any cups remaining at the end of the game are property of the winning team and may be reused.
  3. Bounces count as 2 cups - you may catch/block a bounce. Swatting across the bar will result in delay of game.
  4. No blowing, fingering, or doing anything else to remove a spinning ball.
  5. Your elbow must remain behind the table during your shot. You may not lean on or touch the table while shooting. Lean shots will be re-thrown on the first warning, then loss of shot thereafter. Call your own leans.
  6. If your shot does not hit the table or cups you drink 1 cup. Rule is removed when either team is down to one cup.
  7. If your own cup is made after touching your hand it is 1 cup – anytime. (rollback, bounce, dropped shot, etc)
  8. A cup made off of out of play cups or the rinse cup counts as 1. Cups off spectators don’t count.
  9. Don’t interfere with shots (excluding bounces) that have a chance of going in. Once a ball passes the cups or hits something, it may be caught or blocked.
  10. A ball that lands on top of the cups does not count as anything.
  11. Don’t disturb the air over the cups while a ball is in flight or a reshot will be given. Play D behind the cups.
  12. If both players make their shot, they may ask for a “rollback” and shoot again.
  13. Making the same cup twice before it is drunk ends the game – Even in rebuttals and OT. Pull your cups quick.
  14. “shoot until you miss” rebuttals are given if the game doesn’t end in a rollback. The last cup can not be pulled until both players have shot. If rebuttals are made, OT is played. Ball is awarded as if rebuttals were a normal shot.
  15. If a player is absent from the table, he forfeits his shot. One player may not shoot twice. You may play with one player, but that player only gets one shot. Late players can jump in at any time.
  16. There is ONE re-rack given ONLY at 6 cups and only if you ask. If you miss it, you lose it.
  17. A cup is considered "made" when the ball touches beer, the cup is knocked over, or the ball comes to a rest inside the cup.
  18. One player substitution is allowed per game. Once a player leaves a game he can’t play the rest of that game.
  19. Shots out of turn will be forfeited. A “shot” is any ball that crosses the center line.

Overtime & Time Limit
Overtime will consist of 2 cups – one on each corner with no airballs and bounces counting as 1 cup. Regular Season games have a 20 minute time limit. After 20 minutes the current round will be finished (visitors get last shot) and the team in the lead will win. If tied, each team shoots until there is no longer a tie. The time limit applies to overtime as well.
